The first Palestinian Conference of Medical Technology was initiated by the Palestinian Medical Technology Union in 1997 at Birzeit University. The aims were to discuss the updates of the Medical Technology profession, its status in Palestine, how to improve and progress, and to link the different professionals. After the first conference proved to be successful, another two conferences followed in 1998 and 1999. There was a 6 year gap until the fourth conference was held again. After the fifth conference, the aim was to hold one conference every two years. From 2014, we have broadened our prospects to hold International Palestinian conferences for networking purposes and in order to benefit and learn from international experiences and scientific updates. So far, nine conferences were successfully held as the following:
We are looking forward for hosting The 13th international Palestinian Conference For Laboratory Medicine. The conference agenda revolves around discussing the latest, cutting-edge research in the proposed challenging topics ,
in order to produce a number of recommendations for the future of the profession. To illustrate, the last 11th IPCLM held in collaboration with the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC), proposed the topic of using modern technology in operating classic and advanced laboratory tests. By discussing various research papers in the form of oral and poster presentations, the conferences concluded with various recommendations, namely to encourage researchers to submit projects through establishing a council for scientific research in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Through the continuous efforts to answer to more challenging questions in the laboratory medicine field, we seek to reinforce national and international efforts to meet out challenges.
We are hoping and aiming for holding another productive conference that answers to the emerging questions on Laboratory Medicine .
